teaching
lectures for adults
Parents and caregivers need to be prepared to talk with their kids about sex, including anatomy, gender, STDs, pregnancy, and consent. In this lecture, Dr. Bayley gives tips on how and when to have these conversations, and up-to-date information on the topics above. She helps adults feel confident in fielding questions and establishing an all-important line of communication about sex with their children.
Ace? Demi? NB? Many adults feel ill-equipped to speak confidently to their kids about biological sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation. This lecture clarifies each concept distinctly and reviews relevant terminology. Parents and caregivers emerge more confident in their own vocabulary and their ability to engage kids in discussions around this important topic.
Consent is an especially important topic to cover thoughtfully and thoroughly with young people. There are many misconceptions about what consent is and isn't, and in this lecture Dr. Bayley helps parents and caregivers feel more comfortable navigating this subject with their children. She focuses on practical information on what consent should actually look like in sexual encounters, and offers ways to think about being a good sexual partner in today's complicated sexual landscape.
Research shows that teenagers use pornography as their primary source of information about sex. Whether they seek out online pornography or stumble across it, young people deserve to know the ways in which online pornography and sex are very different from each other. Online pornography depicts sex that is often disturbing, racist, misogynistic, and violent. This lecture helps adults navigate crucial conversations with their kids about pornography.
Kids, especially boys, are being exposed to sexist, racist, and homophobic content online. Moreover, young people are only as safe from online hate as their least supervised friend. In this lecture, Dr. Bayley maps out the online landscape of hate and how young boys are targeted online. She then focuses on practical interventions: how to recognize this content in all its forms, how to respond in real time, and how to combat this hate at home.

coaching
Many adults understandably feel nervous about talking to their kids about sex, but still want to do a great job. Dr. Bayley coaches individuals on how to approach these conversations; when to have them, where to have them, and how to have them. She helps parents and caregivers brush up on material that they personally feel less confident about, such as gender, consent, or pornography. She also advises those who have started a conversation with their child, but feel they need guidance on how best to continue. Short conversations (25 minutes) and longer conversations (50 minutes) are available.
